Document Generation is a new feature available in Dynamics CRM 2016. You no longer need to manually extract CRM data for documents such as Account summaries, Quotes, Orders, Invoices, and similar. With one click users can easily generate a document from CRM using pre-defined Word and Excel templates.
Dynamics PDF-Docs is an upgrade on our successful Dynamics PDF add-on for CRM (read more), Dynamics PDF-Docs can PDF Word documents generated in CRM 2016 and, in one click, attach them to Notes or send them as an Email attachment (PDF).
Dynamics PDF-Docs can be triggered as a workflow
With Dynamics PDF users can schedule a workflow to email Word document generated in CRM 2016 as an attachment to an Email. Such documents can be a Word based report, price quotation or an invoice.
Dynamics PDF-Docs function is available in the entity form view and the records list view, alongside Dynamics PDF. While Dynamics PDF converts CRM reports to PDF, Dynamics PDF-Docs converts word documents generated in CRM 2016 to PDF. On button click, the available Document Templates for the selected entity will be displayed with options like save PDF to Note or PDF as an Email attachment. See image below.
Dynamics PDF-Docs Workflow
The workflow has 3 steps:
Step 1: Create Email– Create an email template for the workflow. You can add other attachments like background info about the company when sending email with Price Quotation
Step 2: Perform Action– select action as Set Word Template, select Entity as None (global) and set the properties as per below image:
Step 3: Dynamics PDF >Add Word Template. In properties, select the Word Template, select if to send the attachment as Word or PDF document and point to the Email created in step 1 above.
Run the workflow as On Demand process or trigger it with one of the many options available to automatically trigger CRM workflows.
