The use of intelligent cloud and digital transformation of business were the major themes throughout Microsoft Convergence 2015 EMEA in Barcelona this past week.

“As businesses strive to keep up with the pace of change, they are looking to technology to drive digital transformation,” said Microsoft’s Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Capossela. “Microsoft can help businesses achieve their transformations by empowering individuals and organizations with innovative solutions that unleash the productivity and potential of their workforce, spur entirely new ways of collaborating, and infuse intelligence into their systems and processes.”

Convergence Crosses the Pond

With more than 5,000 attendees from 79 different countries this year, Convergence 2015 EMEA was the top Microsoft networking and learning opportunity in the region.  With a wide range of sessions and learning opportunities at the event, intelligent cloud solutions and digital transformation were hot topics.  Other big talking points included recent product releases like Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016, Windows 10 and Dynamics NAV 2016. These products are working together to enable intelligent customer engagement, intelligent selling and intelligent planning.

For the past couple of years the “Cloud First, Mobile First” mantra has been at the front of Microsoft’s goals and conversations.  As the cloud becomes increasingly accepted by businesses throughout the world, the question now is no longer about who will adopt cloud, rather the question has become: How do businesses use the cloud to improve critical processes like sales and customer services now that they’ve adopted it?

With this in mind, Microsoft is working to make all of its solutions integrate more seamlessly, from Cortana and Dynamics CRM to O365 and Dynamics ERP. These solutions are also becoming more powerful with machine learning, predictive analysis and streamlined interfaces for more actionable human insights.  The intelligent cloud will likely be Microsoft’s big push for the foreseeable future as they try to help their business users achieve digital transformation.

“Businesses are hungry to seize new opportunities using technologies like machine learning and predictive analytics,” said Satya Nadella, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft during this year’s US Convergence. “Only when businesses create a culture that empowers everyone to have access to data and insight that drive action will they be positioned to truly transform.”
